    Yoga Paint Part 2 – Dancer’s Pose – Natarajasana

    2015 - 01.26

    Yoga Series Continued…

    Dancer’s Pose – Natarajasana – 12″ x 36″ x 1.5″

This was a 6 part  yoga painting – Step 1) Gesso the canvas black – Step 2) Resin over the canvas was a black tinted resin – Step 3) Mark exactly where the pose would be painted – Step 4) Sand the area to be painted – Step 5) Apply clear gesso to sanded area – Steph 6) Paint Pose

The painting was completed using just a palette knife. The pose has a nice thick texture that was accomplished by the use of modeling paste added to the acrylic paint.

In the first picture, you can see that the resined black background gives a mirror effect, reflecting whatever is in front of the canvas. It has a glass-like top finish, and the pose has a non-reflective matte finish.

The second picture shows how the reflection moves as you move, showing off the matte finish pose.

The last picture is a detail shot of the palette knife work.

    2015 - 01.10

    The time has FINALLY come!!

I am so very excited to release my newest series: The Yoga Series!

I have been working on these since early September 2014, and I love how they turned out!

Using only palette knives, the yoga painting series contains 3 inverted yoga poses: 1) Eka Pada Viparita Dandasana  or One-Legged Inverted Staff Pose 2) Sayanasa with scorpion variation and 3)  Handstand or Adho Mukha Vrksasana with Stag Legs variation

The 3 yoga paintings are all done in acrylic paint, mixed with a flexible modeling paste to give the thick rich texture, and they are all 30″ x 40″ on a 1.5″ thick gallery wrapped canvas.

“One Happy Island” – Aruba Painting

    2014 - 03.11

How great is this: Did you see my previous post on the Allure 8901 Wedding dress a husband bought his wife for their 1 year wedding anniversary? WELL, the wife contacted me 1 hour after him, saying that she would like to get HIM a painting for their 1 year wedding anniversary…without knowing that he was getting her one too! I believe that this is an example of true soul mates!

They had gone to Aruba for their honeymoon, and Gia, the wife, wanted to incorporate some special memories from Aruba into a split-view painting- The Giwi Tress, Black Stone Beach, the shipwreck that they dove, and a hidden “G+W”.

    Here are the results!

Custom Wedding Dress Painting- the “Allure” 8901

    2014 - 03.11

Custom wedding dress paintings are my absolute favorite things to create for brides!

    This one was no exception!!

Do you remember the “Looe Key” underwater grouper and coral painting that a bride bought her her husband as a wedding gift? For their 1 Year wedding anniversary, the husband bought his wife a custom wedding gown painting as her gift! (See my next post to see what she got him!)

The background color is a blush pink, which I picked up from her blush bridesmaids dresses.

The wedding dress is the Allure 8901 Style Wedding Dress.

Snook In The Mangroves Painting, Custom Snook Painting

    2012 - 10.27

It has been a long time coming! I have waited to post this painting for many months now, and I am so happy it is complete, and up in its new home! My great friends, Jenny and Mark, really wanted a custom snook painting. They wanted one that was lurking in the mangroves, one or two that were in action. I fish with my husband when I can, but I wouldn’t call myself a fisherman by any means. That being said, I wanted to do a lot of research to understand the snooks environment. I researched the mangroves, the sea floor, the water reflections, the way the snook’s body moved, and researched what they ate. When it comes to custom art, most people have a picture they want copied, but since this was from scratch, I have to admit that I painted this painting, and then painted it again. I must have done the surface reflection 5+ times! I would work on the painting, and then just stop for weeks because something was missing or didn’t feel right, and I didn’t want to continue without figuring it out first. When I completed the painting, I just KNEW it was done! It just felt right! :) I hope you enjoy the painting as much as I do!

Custom Wedding Gown Painting, Alexis Martinez Puleio

    Alexis Martinez Puleio

A custom wedding dress painting is the new way of preserving your wedding gown! It is also a gift that will be a lasting memory of the Bride’s big day!

The dress above was custom made as a surprise wedding gift for the Bride and Groom! My best friend, Jenny, contacted me one day looking for ideas of what to give her friend back home for a wedding gift. She had a certain budget in mind, and I said, “Why not give a unique gift? Find out what her wedding dress looks like and I can paint it for you!”

After researching her dress style, and getting a good view of what it really looked like, I was able to give her the gift she was looking for!

The best part of the gift was when I was able to speak to the Bride myself after she opened her present! It was such a compliment when she said, “I love it! I feel like you picked up my dress and photocopied it to the canvas!”

Above you can see the painted dress next to her actual dress!

Congratulations, Gia and Joe, and Thank You Jennybean for giving me this opportunity!

    This is a 24″ x 36″ x 1.5″ professional canvas,

    painted with acrylic paints.
