    Shrimp Boat Painting

    2013 - 05.24

Hi All! A Facebook friend of mine who lives in Savannah, GA, posted a photo of some Shrimping Boats in a Harbor, and I really wanted to recreate it with a little bit of a different perspective. The setting is sunrise, with a warm glow bouncing off the weathered shrimping boats, docked in the harbor. I named the shrimping boat painting “Safe In The Harbor”. It is 24″ x 48″, acrylics on canvas, and it is available for sale!

Third On Canvas 2013 – Alexis Martinez Puleio

    2013 - 02.08

IT IS MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR!!! That is right! I just finished my two day painting event for Third On Canvas 2013! The weather in Florida was absolutely PERFECT for the event! I was lucky enough to paint next to Popo Flanigan, who is so nice and was a joy to work next to.

For last year’s Third On Canvas event, I painted orchids and got label as “The Orchid Lady”. In keeping with the name, I wanted to do orchids again this year. However, I stepped up my game this year and introduced RESIN to the artwork!

I started by painting a wood board a Sea Foam green color, then poured on resin, painted my acrylic orchids on top of this resin coat, and then added a top coat of resin to the painting. This gave a great “floating” effect, with a natural shadow.

Here are some photos of my White Orchid Painting on Resin, and my Purple Orchid Painting, as well as some fun photos from the day!

    Enjoy!

    Gulf Coast Painting with Resin

    2013 - 02.08

This is one of my favorite paintings that I did, mostly because it was a painting that I did in my free time.

I used Oil Paints in a stick form, on wood board, to create the waves crashing here on the Florida Gulf Coast. This Gulf Coast Painting was then coated in epoxy resin…one of my FAVORITE things to do! I loveeeee resin!

    Here is the final product:

This painting was definitely a challenge, and I felt very accomplished once it was complete!

My friend, Jenna, a die-hard Yankee fan, emailed me this photo of Yankee Stadium to paint for her. Here is what I came up with:

    3D World Map Painting

    2013 - 02.08

This was an exciting painting for me to try, because it was something I had not done in the past. My good friend, Ashley, found a digital image on google of a world map that looked like it was made out of water. She wanted me to try to recreate it for you with a 3D effect.

To create this effect, I used a modeling paste called Structura, which I then tinted to the color of water.

Snook In The Mangroves Painting, Custom Snook Painting

    2012 - 10.27

It has been a long time coming! I have waited to post this painting for many months now, and I am so happy it is complete, and up in its new home! My great friends, Jenny and Mark, really wanted a custom snook painting. They wanted one that was lurking in the mangroves, one or two that were in action. I fish with my husband when I can, but I wouldn’t call myself a fisherman by any means. That being said, I wanted to do a lot of research to understand the snooks environment. I researched the mangroves, the sea floor, the water reflections, the way the snook’s body moved, and researched what they ate. When it comes to custom art, most people have a picture they want copied, but since this was from scratch, I have to admit that I painted this painting, and then painted it again. I must have done the surface reflection 5+ times! I would work on the painting, and then just stop for weeks because something was missing or didn’t feel right, and I didn’t want to continue without figuring it out first. When I completed the painting, I just KNEW it was done! It just felt right! :) I hope you enjoy the painting as much as I do!

    Custom Wedding Artwork

    2012 - 10.25

This has been a post that I have been wanting to post ALL summer long!! Now the time has arrived!! Do Me A Favor Event Concepts, a Naples’ company specializing in custom invitations, stationery, welcome gifts, and elaborate details, asked me to create artwork for a custom wedding logo, that would be used on custom napkins, coffee mugs, wedding invitations,  water bottles, favors, and much more! The concept was to use lilies in a heart shape design that was unique to the Bride and Groom’s personalities. The designs were then used on all things involved in this very special wedding! The design created for all of the custom wedding invitations for the Naples, Florida wedding, were hand painted!

This was a very special and unique opportunity for me and I am excited to show you some of the final products below!

    Bookend Technology Custom Wood Sign

    2012 - 10.24

Have you heard of Bookend Technology yet? Bookend creates technology to help all those involved in the educational ecosystem understand where a student may be falling behind and proactively serves up alerts and resources. This helps the students stay ahead before they have the chance to fall behind. Todd Cofer, an old college collegue of mine, is Bookend’s Co-Founder and CEO. This year he named as one of “Georgetown’s Most Promising Entrepreneurs” by The Washington Post! Back in March, his wife Aimee,  asked me to create a Custom Wood Business Sign for his office. I took his Logo and from there I created his Custom Wood Sign! Best of luck to Todd and to Bookend Technology!
